The Hart School District Governing Board voted 3-1 on February 1, 2017, to appoint a new board member to fill Robert Hall’s remaining two years rather than initiate a costly election. Hall submitted his resignation, effective February 1, 2017, to the Los Angeles County Board of Education on January 19, 2017. He is stepping down to take a 15-month assignment with Advanced Bionics/Sonova in Singapore.

All of the applicants have been vetted through the Los Angeles County Registrar-Recorder’s office and found to be in compliance with California Education Code 35107, which states an applicant interested in becoming a Governing Board member must be a registered voter and 18 years of age or older. Trustee Area 3 is in the southern part of the Santa Clarita Valley and encompasses portions of the Golden Valley and Hart High School attendance areas.

The Board has scheduled a public meeting on Wednesday, March 29, 2017, beginning at 6 pm to interview all applicants, publicly debate about those applicants, and choose an applicant for appointment. The newly appointed Board member will be sworn in on April 19, with the term set to expire in December 2018.
