Softball sign-ups: Softball sign-ups end today. Teams can be coed, all boys or all girls, or 7th and 8th grade mixed. Please see a P.E. teacher for your sign-up sheet. Remember that once your list is turned in there will be no substitutions allowed, so please choose wisely.
AVID: 7th graders this Friday is the deadline to turn in the AVID applications for next year. Turn in applications either with Mrs. Anderson in room 604 or to the front office.
Pennies for Patients: March 15th through April 2nd is our school's chance to help raise money for the Leukemia/Lymphoma Society. Your pennies, nickels, quarters and dollars can help bring us closer to finding a cure for these deadly diseases. Each Team will have a donation jug in their Team Leader's classroom. ASB will collect these jugs each Friday and count up the money. Monday morning, we will announce the totals for the top 3 Teams. Spirit Points will be awarded each week to the top Teams. Remember, the Team with the most points at the end of the year will win an ice cream party. Let's get involved and help out a good cause.
Attention Students applying for Saugus Cheer: You may come to the attendance office during nutrition or lunch to pick up your attendance report. Remember, you must have your attendance report in order to apply for cheer. The deadline for Saugus cheer applications is Friday, March 26. The applications are now available in the front office.
Arroyo Seco Junior High School PAC: PAC established the 2010 Scholarship program for eligible, graduating 8th-graders. Scholarships in the amount of $500 are awarded for post-high school education. The application is due by Friday, April 16.The flyers are available in the front office along with the application.
Library Event: Meet Kevin Gerard the author of the adventure series: Connor and the Crossworlds. He'll be coming to talk to students March 30th during lunch in the library.
The library will be closed for this event, so be sure to make other plans during lunch. English teachers will distribute tickets to attend and space is limited to ticket holders only.
Minimum Days: Today and tomorrow, March 25th and 26th are minimum days. The students will be released at 11:35.
Three Strikes Loss of Privilege:
8th graders who misbehave can be removed from the 8th grade Luau, team activities, and Disneyland.
7th graders can also lose privileges including, end of the year team activities/field trips and the opportunity to return to Arroyo Seco for the 8th grade.
So, let's all watch our behavior, both in and out of class, so that we can all take part in our year end activities and celebrations.
Report Cards: Report cards will be handed to the students on Friday during class. The student will be bringing them home. They will not be mailed.
Saugus High School and Athletics and Clubs: Saugus High School athletics and clubs will be at Arroyo Seco March 30th. Representatives from Saugus will be visiting 8th grade PE classes to share information on how students can get involved in sports and clubs. Get involved and join a sport or club!
Assistance League presents Footsteps: Join Arroyo Seco students as we battle the current Champions - SIERRA VISTA Middle School and fend off all other middle schools for the Spirit Trophy. The school with the most participation wins. All can participate: family, friends, students, and staff.
Each student participant gets 50pts Extra Credit in PE. Run/Walk: Sun April 18th, 2010
$25 Registration Fee to benefit the Assistance League.
The Assistance League supplies clothing, food, and other assistance for need families in our area. Registration Form and Fee is due to Ms. Joy Williams in the front office or Ms. Eddy by Friday April 2nd.
Item Pick- up: Remember, if you have asked your parent to drop off an item, check in the main office to see if it has been dropped off. We are no longer making announcements during lunch.
