     If Drew Peterson’s sleeping, he doesn’t want anyone to wake him.

“I thought that only happens in dreams,” he said.

With the bases loaded in the bottom of the eighth inning, Peterson lived out a boyhood fantasy with one mighty swing. The Cowboys’ center-fielder pulled a 1-1 Travis Babin offering over the right-field fence for a walk-off grand slam. As he rounded first he lifted his right fist in celebration and as he came home he was mobbed by his Canyon teammates in revelry of a 9-5 victory over Saugus baseball Tuesday at Canyon High. COMPLETE STORY

Canyon Ace Mows Down Bulldogs

      With things not quite going to plan this season, the Canyon baseball team got a much needed shot in the arm with the help of a left hander.

The Cowboys pounded out 11 hits and starting pitcher Chris Gschwender struck out 14 Burbank batters en route to an easy 10-1 victory over the Bulldogs Friday at Canyon High.

Gschwender took a no-hitter into the fourth inning and allowed just five hits to go along with two walks.

“I pretty much expected that out of him,” Canyon coach Chuck Crim said of Gschwender’s performance. “You throw a pitcher like that against a team like that. Granted, anybody who goes up there with a bat in their hand, you never know what can happen in this game period, but he gave me a great effort.”    COMPLETE STORY
