Canyon Shows True Grit
Once it reached the international tie-breaker portion of the second game of the day, the Canyon softball team showed Saturday why this year’s group thinks it can be a lot better than last year’s version.
In the top half of the tie-breaker inning, the Cowboys gave up a run that put them in a 7-6 hole.
In a game in which the team had led in every single inning prior to the sixth, it was a shot that could have broken the Cowboys’ backs, just as Jenna McGivney getting thrown out at home in the bottom half of the tie-breaker after driving in the tying run, could have easily done the same.
But it didn’t. The Cowboys didn’t hang their heads at all, coming back to beat Highland, 8-7 in the team’s second of two games, Saturday in the Hart Classic Softball Tournament at Central Park. COMPLETE STORY
