Greetings! Since the passage of Measure V in 2001, the Hart District has been working on many projects, including construction of new facilities and modernization of existing facilities. The goal of our construction program has been to create a physical learning environment that supports the outstanding educational opportunities students enjoy in the William S. Hart Union High School District. Our construction program has focused attention on developing school facilities that enhance instruction, support equal access to educational opportunities, and insure the safety of all students. Over the past years since the passage of Measure V, the Hart District, utilizing State construction dollars and developer fees to augment Measure V funds, constructed two junior high schools, two high schools, and has completed a number of other projects. Modernization of another two high schools and one junior high school, as well as enhancement of current school facilities through the construction of a District ROTC Center at Valencia High School, gymnasium/music building at Rancho Pico Junior High School, and the installation of synthetic turf athletic fields at six high schools have been major accomplishments worthy of note. I am excited about several projects that are currently in the design and planning stage. Architects have begun design work on modernization of three of our schools: Hart High, Placerita Junior High, and Sierra Vista Junior High Schools. These projects are scheduled to begin construction in summer 2008. Future plans include the construction of high schools in the Castaic area, as well as in the proposed Newhall Ranch development. Your continued support of our efforts to provide a learning environment that is safe and conducive to learning is greatly appreciated.
