The following message was sent by telephone to all Hart District parents this morning, Wednesday, April 29, 2009:
Good morning. This is Superintendent Jaime Castellanos with a message for Hart District parents regarding the rumors of a swine flu outbreak in our community. First, I want to confirm that we have NO confirmed cases of swine flu in Santa Clarita at this time, nor are any of our schools under investigation for swine flu outbreaks.
We are in constant contact with the Public Health Service and will be notified should cases surface in our local area. Should there be any reason to restrict movement of our students, we will let you know immediately with a ConnectED message. As parents, you can help us in this situation by re-enforcing the following with your children at home:
• Wash hands frequently-with soap and water or alcohol wipes.
• Cough or sneeze into a tissue if necessary or into a sleeve-not into a hand. Dispose of used tissues in the trash.
• Avoid contact with people who are obviously ill.
• If you or your child is sick-stay home and contact your doctor if necessary.
The health and safety of our students is of prime concern to us. Please be assured that the Hart District is doing everything possible to take precautions and will keep you informed if any further action is necessary.
