Performing arts groups from Hart School District schools across the Santa Clarita Valley are holding concerts and fundraisers to celebrate the holiday season and showcase the talent and commitment of students throughout the District.
A variety of band, choir and drama productions are slated for December. Students, parents and community members are encouraged to support local performing arts programing while enjoying great local entertainment. Event dates, times, ticket prices and venues are detailed below:
Dec. 1, 2 and 3 - The West Ranch High School Theatre Department presents A Midsummer Night's Dream by William Shakespeare. Shows begin at 7:30 pm in the West Ranch Theatre. A Midsummer Night's Dream is one of Shakespeare's most famous and beloved comedies that tells a funny story about the complications of love, jealousy, and trickery. You won't want to miss this uniquely stylized and modern adaptation of the play complete with contemporary music, hip hop dance, and physical comedy. Tickets for "A Midsummer Night's Dream" are only $8 for adults and $5 for students. To reserve tickets call 661-222-1220 ext. 601.
Dec. 2 - Sierra Vista Junior High School Band Concert Sierra Vista advanced band and drumline students will perform at 7 pm in the multi-purpose room.
Dec. 3 - Hart High School Dance Team Benefit Show The Hart High School Dance Team invites the community to its annual showcase to benefit the Santa Clarita Chapter of Help the Children. Shows are at 4 and 7 p.m. in the Hart Auditorium; 24825 Newhall Avenue. This performing arts showcase highlights talent from dance and performance groups across Santa Clarita. It is an opportunity for the Hart Dance team to reach out to support local families in need, while raising funds for the upcoming competition season. Tickets are $10 general admission; available at the door on the night of the event. Patrons are encouraged to bring non-perishable food items to benefit Help the Children. Each food donor will receive a complimentary raffle ticket. All food items and a portion of ticket sales will benefit Help the Children of Santa Clarita.
Dec. 6 - Saugus Winter Choral Concert Saugus Choral students will perform at 7 pm at the Hart High School Auditorium. Tickets are $8 in advance and $10 at the door. More info: April Dooley,

Dec. 7 - West Ranch High School Winter Choir Concert All West Ranch choral groups will perform. Show begins at 7 pm in the West Ranch Theatre. Tickets are $7.
Dec. 8 - Rancho Pico Junior High School Choir Concert Rancho Pico choir students will perform. Show begins at 7pm in the multi-purpose room. Admission is $4. Please note that parking for this performance will be in the back of the school. More info: Molly Peters,

Dec. 7, 8 and 9 - Valencia High School Drama presents One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest by Ken Kesey. Shows begin at 7 pm in the Valencia High School Theatre. One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest is a play adaptation of the famous Ken Kesey novel which was also turned into an Academy Award winning film. Cuckoo's Nest is a classic story about an outsider by the name of J.P. McMurphy who lands in a mental hospital and challenges the tyrannical authority of Nurse Ratched, who runs the hospital. Although it is a universal story with both dramatic and comedic appeal, parents should be cautioned that the content may not be appropriate for all ages, especially pre-teen children. Dec. 7, 8 and 9 - Golden Valley High School Theatre Department presents The Philadelphia Story. Shows begin at 7 pm in the Golden Valley Theatre. This is the wedding of the year and everyone is invited to attend ! Society maven Tracey Lord is getting married, for the second time, when out of the blue, her ex-husband shows up. It seems he's still in love and wants another chance. Top that off with a scandal sniffing tabloid reporter who also becomes smitten and it's two suitors too many in this classic, but oh-so-timely, romantic comedy, The Philadelphia Story. Dec. 10 - Golden Oak Adult School presents Jazz In The Afternoon Under the direction of Bob Babko, recently retired band director in the Hart School District, professional adult musicians will perform a program of big band jazz.
