La Mesa held a special assembly on School Violence and Bullying

J. C. Pohl a movie producer by trade, is doing far more important things with students all over the country. On February 4th he came to LA Mesa Junior High School and presented a very powerful message to the students about where school violence comes from and what students can do to stop it. He and his partners have developed a film entitled “Teen Truth” about the effects of teasing, threatening and bullying on people. It was filmed by five hand-selected students throughout the country, one of which attended Canyon High School. “Teen Truth” contains a message that examines social pressures experienced by students. After the film was presented to La Mesa students, Mr. Pohl discussed the importance of treating others with respect. He stressed that students need social connections and support networks, and he challenged the students at La Mesa to get involved. As Mr. Pohl asked the students, “If you do not get involved, what are you doing? Answer, “Nothing!” The staff and students at La Mesa want to thank JC Pohl and “Teen Truth” for a fantastic program that will have a tremendous positive effect on the entire La Mesa community.
