We are starting our state fitness testing today (Monday, March 25th). Every student was measured for the trunk lift and in order to fall within the health fitness zone, they needed to be in the range of at least 9 inches.  Almost every student was able to meet the 9 inch requirement and the few that didn't will keep trying. Some of the other tests include:

-height and weight (to determine body mass index)

-curl-ups

-push-ups       ***Please have your child practice doing push-ups, curl-ups and running

-sit & reach       during spring break***

-mile

We are starting our Adventure Unit today (Monday, Feb. 25th)!  It is one of my favorites and typically, a big hit with the students as well.  The main focus of this unit is learning how to participate in games and challenges by using skills such as cooperation, teamwork, following the rules, and demonstrating good sportsmanship.  The rock climbing wall is also part of this unit, however, students do not have to climb unless they choose to.  It is completely voluntary and it will not affect their grade if they decide not to do it.  A permission slip is required in order to climb and needs to be signed and returned no later than Friday, March 1st, NO exceptions.  Mr. Suarez and I will be training our belayers on the following dates from 3:20 - 5:00:

Monday, March 4

Tuesday, March 5              ***You must attend all 3 days in order to be certified***

Wednesday, March 6

Congratulations to our cross country team.  We came in 2nd place (lost to Placerita by 1 point) at the meet that took place on Tuesday, November 13th, at Central Park.  It was a very exciting day!  The following students placed in the top 10 and earned a medallion:

Runner's Club

Runner's Club is officially over as of Monday, March 25th.  Once we come back from Spring Break, our focus will be on the track and field team that will compete at College of the Canyons on Monday, May 13th.  In order to participate in the track meet, students are required to try out for the team and also have at least a 2.0 grade point average on the 3rd quarter report card.  Try-outs will be held in April (to be announced).

Runner's Club will be meeting on Monday's and Wednesday's from 3:20 - 4:20.  A permission slip will be required in order to participate as we do some of our running off campus in the surrounding neighborhoods.  We will not have Runner's Club on minimum days or on the Wednesday (once a month) when there is a faculty meeting.  ***PLEASE NOTE:  I have added 2 additional days that we will not meet.

We will not meet on the following dates:
