Week 7 - son, soun - sound

1. dissonant- (adj.) lack of agreement; inharmonious

2. resonate - (v.) to relate with similar vibration; resound

3. sonic- (adj.) relating to sound waves

4. ultrasound - (n.) sound frequencies above human hearing, used for medical diagnoses or therapy

5. unison - (adj.) in perfect agreement or union

Week 6 - para (prefix)

1. paradox- (n.) a statement that seems to contradict common sense but perhaps is true; a contradiction

2. paralegal - (n.) a trained aide who assists a lawyer

3. parallel- (adj.) everywhere equidistant and not meeting; corresponding

4. parameter - (n.) a defining limit to something

5. paranoid - (adj.) fearful or suspicious of others

1. command- (n.) 1.an order given 2. authority or ability to control; mastery

2. commendation - (n.) a formal awarding of praise or thanks; praise

Week 8 - writing terms - poetry

1. imagery - (n.) descriptive images or pictures that appeal to the senses

2. metaphor - (n.) a figure of speech in which two different things are compared to fully describe the qualities of the first one; a symbol

3. rhythm - (n.) the aspects of tempo and/or meter found in such things as music or poetry

4. passage - (n.)a brief portion of a written work or speech; a literary section

5. point of view-(n.) a person's opinion; the vantage point from which a writer tells a story

1. intuition - (n.) the power of knowing without mental effort or something known in this way; insight

2. tutelage - (n.) instruction of an individual, a guiding influence

3. tutorial - (n.) a specifically designed instructional program; a step-by-step lesson
