Sean O'Brien, an English teacher from West Ranch High School, has been named one of 16 Los Angeles County Teachers of the Year for 2007, a title which places him among the "best of the best" in public education in Southern California. (more...)
Hart District Records Growth
In State, Federal Standards - Aug. 2007
The William S. Hart Union High School District increased eight points in its steady progress toward a state goal of 800 on the Academic Performance Index (API) released today by the California Department of Education. The Hart District overall API is 791, while six individual schools were well above the state's 800 goal. (more)
Seventeen Teachers Named
Hart 'Best of the Best' for 2007

Seventeen teachers representing all of the Hart District's schools have been named Teacher of the Year by their respective sites. All 17 will be presented to the Hart District Governing Board at its October meeting, when one will be announced as District Teacher of the Year, to represent the Hart District in Los Angeles County competition.

Arroyo Seco, Golden Valley
Earn Distinguished School Titles

Two schools in the Hart District have been awarded the title of California Distinguished School, according to an announcement from State Superintendent of Schools Jack O'Connell.
This is the second such designation for Arroyo Seco Junior High School and the first for Golden Valley High School, one of the district's newest schools which had to wait until it was at least three years old to be nominated for the accolade.. [more....]

Collyn Nielsen, Ed.D., who served as an assistant principal at Hart High School for six years before moving into the assistant principal position at Saugus High School this year, has been named the new principal for Hart High School. Hart District Schools Exceed Goals
For State, National Accountability

A strong intervention program, alignment of classroom instruction to California's standards and high expectations for every group of students have paid off in the William S. Hart Union High School District, according to accountability reports released in January by the California Department of Education. The scores are based on achievement tests taken by students in spring 2006.
The district met and exceeded every goal established by the federal government for Adequate Yearly Progress (AYP) and the state's Academic Performance index (API), with some schools increasing their API scores by more than 100 points. (...more...)

Pass High School Exit Exam on First Try
