At Saugus High School, we believe that all students have a right to learn and all teachers have a right to teach. The teaching and learning process should not be disrupted by unacceptable behavior. Therefore, students will:
- Be in class on time, with proper materials ready to work until dismissed.
- Respect themselves, others and school property.
- Avoid any disruptions of the learning process.
- Any violations will subject students to consequences, which include: suspensions, Opportunity Room assignment, Saturday School, detentions, etc.
- Saugus High School obseves a Zero Tolerance policy towards drugs, weapons and alcohol. This includes the student parking lot.
- Absences not cleared within 72 hours may be subject to disciplinary consequences. Students who are absent from any given class 15 times or more are subject to a failing grade.
- Leaving Campus: Once you have reported to school, you may not leave without an off-campus pass. Leaving without an off-campus pass will be considered a truancy.
- Truancy: Students who are truant will receive a Saturday Opportunity Class, SARB referrals and Truancy tickets from the campus deputy.

Tardy Lock-Out (TLO): Being Tardy to class will require a TLO (Tardy Lock Out) pass.
Tardies 1-2 ,5, 7 ,9 & 11: Warning;
Tardies 4, 6 13-15 & 17-19: Assignment to the Opportunity Room;
Tardy 8: Assignmnet to SOC;
Tardy 10: Out-of-school suspension;
Tardy 12 & 16 Citation from the deputy.
Students have no more than 15 minutes to obtain a TLO pass and arrive to class. Arrival to class after 15 minutes will constitute a truancy.
- Cell phones are not to be turned on while in buildings. Any phone detected by Saugus staff members will be confiscated and brought to an administrator. They will only be returned through a personal visit by the parents.
- Electronic devices such as pagers, Gameboys, CD players, etc. are to be treated just like cell phones. These items are not to be used during instructional time under any circumstances.
- Skateboards are not allowed on school grounds at any time.
- Trash: Any student caught discarding paper, bottles, cans, or other debris on campus grounds or in the classroom will be assigned clean up and could be given a littering citation from our campus officer.
- Student dress: Students' dress should be clean, modest, safe, and non-disruptive. Clothing or symbols that represent prohibited products or behavior, send negative messages about others, or are obscene are unacceptable. Shoes must be worn at all times. Strapless tops, halter tops (which show too much skin), tops that show the midriff or other inmodest tops are not allowed. Underwear, including boxer shorts and undershirts, may not be exposed. Hats, sunglasses and sweatshirt hoods should not be worn in classrooms. Wallet chains and any jewelry with points or spikes are prohibited. Hairnets, bandanas, or any other clothing that can be constructed as being "gang-related" is unacceptable. The administration retains the authority to ban specific clothin if the need arises to maintain school safety and secure a non-desruptive arena for education to take place. Violators will be brought before administrators and be given alternative apparel to wear for the day. Repeat offenders will be issued further consequences including detentions and Saturday Opportunity Class.
- Notebook Covers, backpacks, or any other personal items that promote negative messages about ethnic populations, sexual orientations, "gang" writing/drawings or exhibit photographs or drawings depicting scantily clad females and/or males as well as drug/alcohol paraphernalia will be confiscated and consequences will be handed out.
- I.D. Card: Students must carry their I.D. cars with them at all times while on campus or at school sponsored events. Violators will be given consequences.
- Campus Pass: Any time a student travels from one part of the campus to another during class time, he/she must have an on-campus pass along with his/her student I.D. card.
- Item Drop Off: No personal items may be dropped off in the office for delivery to students. Exceptions would be forgotten a homework assignment, but that item will be placed only in the teacher's mailbox.
- Silent Sustained Reading (SSR) is to include all students and staff at Saugus High School. No student should be outside walking the campus to use the bathroom or deliver items during this time.
