Saugus XC - Wins State Cross Country Title

The girl's cross country team and Brian Zabilski were display on Saturday at the CIF State Cross Country Championships at Woodward Park, where Saugus High School put together yet another magnificent program wide performance. The Saugus girls team turned on the burners late and rallied to win the Division II state title, marking an eighth state crown in the last nine years for the team. And earlier in the day, Saugus senior Brian Zabilski ended his official high school cross country career with an individual state championship in the boys Division II race. He’s the first male individual state champion in Santa Clarita Valley history.


Saugus Girls XC - CIF Southern Section Champions

Saugus Girls Cross Country has won its seventnh CIF section crown in the last nine years. Saugus senio Samamtha Ortega led with a third-place mark of 17 minutes, 20 seconds, while Ashley Heys followed closely with a seventh place finish at 17 minutes, 49 seconds. In the boy's divison II race, the defending state and CIF champion Centurions placed fifth despite the record breaking performance of Brian Zabilski. The competition will continue next Saturday at Wood ward Park in Fresno, where the saugus boys will try to repeat as the Divison II Champs. Full story at The Signal
