CENTURION TEN

1. “I WILL BE DIFFERENT.” Don’t make bad choices just to “fit in” with your peers. Hustle and Commitment will be EXTRAORDINARY, and for that reason the coach warns parents and players that: “this Program is NOT for everyone.”

2. “MY LANGUAGE AND BEHAVIOR WILL REFLECT MY CHARACTER.”Absolutely NO Profanity, EVER!

3. “I WILL BE AN EXAMPLE.” Hopefully other students, other teams, and younger youth, will follow your lead. Nothing says “respect” like cleaning the bench before and after a game.

4. “I WILL AVOID DRINKING, DRUG USE, AND SMOKING.” In addition to being illegal, these are dangerous, unhealthy, and they break your commitment to teammates and most likely will cause a dismissal from the team.

5. “I WILL BE ON TIME.” Being late shows your low commitment level.

6. “I WILL BE RESPECTFUL AND ATTENTIVE IN CLASS AND I WILL ATTEMPT TO SIT UP FRONT.” Any issue will not be taken lightly by the coaching staff.

7. “I WILL STUDY.” Maintaining a 2.0 GPA is a commitment to your team for our season. Working toward a 3.0 or higher GPA is a commitment to yourself for life.

8. “I WILL DRESS APPROPRIATELY.” It is our belief that others should remember you for the excellence of your conduct and play, not the color of your hair or the height of your pants.

9. “I WILL COMMUNICATE WITH OTHERS WITH RESPECT.” Verbal outbreaks can be harmful. Gossip kills relationships of all kinds. Hopefully players and parents understand the value of staying positive. Parents should support other kids as they would want others to support their own. Negativity in the stands or around the dinner table will destroy team chemistry.

10. “I WILL COMMUNICATE TRUTHFULLY WITH MY PARENTS AS TO WHY I DON’T PLAY.” Parents, understandably, usually just think about their own son and what’s going on with him. The coach on the other hand, has to think about all of your sons as a whole. Although we have parents that have a knowledge of the game of basketball, in relation to our TEAM and why we do what we do, parental knowledge decreases. The coaches door will Always be open to questions, but the answer will always come down to three ingredients: Hustle, Attitude, and Ability
