Library and Textbook Returns for the Year
Monday, May 21st is the last day the library will be open. All library books are due this day. Textbooks will be collected on May 24th for 8th graders and May 25th for 7th graders through the English classes. Students should bring their textbooks in a bag with their name on it, to their English teacher on the morning of their turn-in date. Students not returning materials in on time will lose privileges such as end of the year activities, receiving their yearbook, and they will continue to be on the indebted list at SV or at their next school.
Attention 7th Grade ASB members!! On Tuesday, 5/22, there is a mandatory brunch meeting in room 101. We will be discussing the end-of-the year activities coming up next week, and passing out ASB t-shirts; we will also be addressing any questions that you may have about your duties at the beginning of the fall semester. Finally, on Wednesday, 5/23, after school in the MPR from 2:20-3:30, we will be hosting the 7th Grade ASB "Meet the Pros" session, where you will learn from our current ASB what your role is on campus next year. It will be a fun-filled afternoon with a snack and drink included! Contact Miss DeWitt if you're not able to make it please. Can't wait to see you at both of these events!
Attention 7th grade students: If you would like to put in a request for your elective for next school year, please stop by the office and sign up. Lists are located in the attendance/counseling waiting area. The counselors will do their best to meet your requests for elective classes as space is available either first or second semester of next year.
ASB Office - Now that Disneyland sales are over the ASB office will not be taking checks as payment.
Starting Monday, May 14th. all payments to the end of the school year will have to be on a CASH ONLY basis.
Attn parents and 8th grade students for the 2012-2013 school year: If you are interested in the Washington DC trip in June, 2013, you need to register soon for this awesome experience!! If you have already registered, no action is required. The trip is currently almost 50% filled and we do anticipate the roughly 25 remaining spaces to be filled quickly. All remaining spaces are filled on a 1st come, 1st serve basis so the only way to guarantee your child (or you) a space on the trip is to register before all remaining spaces are taken. Below is a link to our on-line registration should you prefer to register electronically (click on the register now button on the top right corner of the page), and if you need a hard copy registration form, please see Ms. Kontis in room 604.

HAVE BOX TOPS? - With budget cuts it is more important than ever to use every
possible way to raise funds for the school. Box Tops are one of the
easiest ways to accomplish this. HOW? When grocery shopping, look for products that carry the Box Top
symbol. Look through your pantry and see if you have products that
display Box Tops. Clip, write your student's first and last name as
well as the team name on the back of the Box Top and place in an
envelope or ziploc bag and send in with your student. Collection bins
are in each of the team leaders' classrooms. There are monthly drawings and winners receive a gift certificate. At
the end of the year, the team with the most Box Tops turned in will
enjoy a pizza party. There is a collection box at the front desk in the school office.
Collection bins will be available at all events where parent
volunteers are present. HAPPY CLIPPING AND THANK YOU FOR YOUR SUPPORT! The latest version of the Box Tops for Education newsletter is now available.
Please view it here.
CELL PHONES – Get the cell phone contract here. Students are not allowed to use cell phones in any school buildings. Student phones can be taken away if they are seen and/or used inappropriately, as determined by the staff member. While in school buildings, phones must remain off (vibrating phones can often still cause a disruption) and should remain in backpacks/purses or pockets. Phones may be used before school, brunch, lunch and after school as long as they are used out side of all school buildings. This includes the library and office unless special permission is given by a Sierra Vista Staff member. Sierra Vista assumes no responsibility for lost or stolen phones, including when confiscated. We appreciate your support of this policy.
