Library News: The Scholastic Book Fair is this week! This is the main fundraiser of the year for the SV Library. Students may shop during school hours, and families may visit the fair at Open House on March 26th. Be sure to visit the fair to buy lots of great books and fun school supplies. You may now even buy books online HERE. As a 'thank you' for supporting our fair fundraiser, the first 100 students who buy a book will receive a free wrist band. We also could use a few more parent volunteers to help during the week of the fair. Please click HERE to sign up. Thank you for your support!
Operation School Bell 5k Run/Walk - Here is a chance to do something nice for our community and earn two community service hours and a PE "free run" pass. Consider participating the in the "Operation School Bell 5k Run/Walk" on Sunday, April 19th, at 8:00 am. Cost is only $10 for junior high students! We have challenged Placerita JHS and La Mesa JHS to see who has the most participants! Money from the race is used to help buy clothing and school supplies for students in need. Entry forms and fee are due next Thursday, April 2nd, in room 617. See Mrs. Skoczylas, Ms. Stauch or Mrs. Hatfield for information.
Yearbooks will be on sale until May 1st and there are limited quantities left for purchase. If you have not yet purchased and guaranteed a 2014-2015 yearbook, please don't delay! The pre-order sales end on May 1st and any remaining books will be sold on a first come, first served basis to 8th grade students on yearbook distribution day. Only students who pre-order yearbooks will be allowed to attend the yearbook distribution party in June. The yearbook is a great way to commemorate your year at Sierra Vista and is a treasure to keep for years to come! You may purchase a book at the ASB window or online at Jostens.com. We thank you for your support!
Community Service Opportunity - Does your child need community service hours for Honor Society or other obligations? Is it time to clean out your shoe closets and get rid of those shoes that no longer fit? Students can earn community service hours by donating gently USED shoes. Please bring shoes to Ms. Kontis' room, 626, and she will give community service hours for your donation, five pair minimum required. Any type of gently used shoes will do. These shoes will be donated to help the homeless, and you will be helping your community.
Box Tops - Be sure to send Box Tops with your student to turn in every month to earn money for our school. Your child will be entered in the monthly drawing.
