ABOUT CJSF:
Sierra Vista Jr. High School is a member of the California Junior Scholarship Federation, Chapter #257jsc. This state-wide honor society was founded in 1967.  It is a subgroup of CSF, the high school honor society founded in 1921 by a school administrator, Mr. Charles F. Seymour.

The purpose of the society is to provide those students who excel academically an opportunity to perform school and community services, and to participate in worthwhile activities.  Students, who achieve a 3.5 grade point average or above in their four academic classes, are eligible to join CJSF each semester. Membership in the Sierra Vista Honor Society is held in high esteem, and our staff encourages all eligible students to join.

Students must apply for CJSF Honor Society each semester.  Students in 7th grade are eligible to apply starting with the spring semester of 7th grade.

Each semester, members elect officers who help with various functions, including the installation ceremonies. Honor Society members also have the opportunity to take field trips during the year.

QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS:
To become a member, a student must:

·        Receive at least a 3.5 Grade Point Average for the semester from your 4 academic classes (math, English, social studies, and Science.)  Average together the last two quarter report cards from the previous semester at junior high level. An "A" is valued at 4 points, a "B" is 3 points, and a "C" is 2 points.  Disciplinary issues, and Failing grades or "D"s are not allowed in any class (including P.E. and your elective).

·        Complete a Membership Application. These are only available at the SV library.
Applications will not be accepted unless community service Time Sheets are also submitted!

·        Complete a minimum of 10 hours of community service and turn in the filled out Honor Society Time Sheet.  Examples of acceptable activities for hours for community service may be found on the Honor Society Time Sheet.
You may also attach
to the time sheet, signed hours on a plain sheet of paper.

·        Submit $3.00 for the semester dues.   Dues will be collected at the 1st meeting of each semester.

A list of students who make Honor Society will be posted by the ASB office and the library during the week following the application deadline.
