 WELCOME TO YOUR LIBRARY

Mission Statement - Your Sierra Vista Library; Making Multimedia Resources Accessible to Serve the Staff and Students, Enabling them to Become Effective Users of Ideas and Information

START LOOKING FOR YOUR BOOKS!
The last open day of the library is May 20th. All library books are due on that day. Textbooks will be collected from 8th graders on May 22nd, and from 7th graders on May 23rd with your science class. Be sure to turn everything in on time to avoid being on LOP and missing out on receiving your yearbook and other end-of-the-year fun activities.

Library Catalog and Destiny One Search
To search for our library books and do online research, click HERE. It is now searchable from home. The login user name for students is the ID number and the password is your 6 digit birthday. After putting in a search term, click on "One Search" then "Get Results" for resources from all of our databases without the need of additional passwords. It also has a source citation tool for items added to your resource list. For instructions on how to search, click HERE.

Destiny App for your Smart Phone
If you have a smart phone, then you may be able to download the app for Destiny. It allows you to search our catalog and databases from your phone for free. Once the app is loaded, setting it up is easy. Just use the district URL: http://destiny.hartdistrict.org    You'll be able to select Sierra Vista from the alpha list and log on with your personal account information.

Most students are required to read two books per quarter from this list with a value of 6 points or higher. Check with your English teacher for your requirements. There are over 55,000 quizzes to choose from with interest levels from kindergarten to 12th grade. For this reason, please note that the content and the maturity level of the books will vary.

Brown Bag Presentations
Brown Bag Presentations are standards based, entertaining shows at the SV library. Our next Brown Bag will be on May 20th during 1st lunch. All 8th graders are invited to hear our guest speaker, Mr. Amling, tell stories about his father's journey through ELLIS ISLAND. No ticket is required - seating will continue until we are full. Attendees will receive a special treat during the Ellis Island simulation day.
