Vicki Engbrecht Given VIA Lifetime Achievement Award

This marks just the third time in its 38-year history VIA has given a Lifetime Achievement Award. The first went to one of the City of Santa Clarita founders, Connie Worden-Roberts, and the second to former Los Angeles County Supervisor Mike Antonovich. It is the highest honor VIA bestows to an individual.

“She is truly a transformational leader who has made significant lifetime contributions to public education in the Hart District,” said VIA Chairwoman of the Board Teresa Todd. “Her support for VIA’s Connecting to Success program has been unwavering and allowed us to grow from our humble start of training a modest 500 students per year to an impressive 4,000 students in 2020. And all for the betterment of preparing our budding young professionals from student life to work life. The Santa Clarita Valley is a better place for students, staff, families, and the business sector because of her four decades of leadership and influence.”

Mrs. Engbrecht has spent more than 40 years with the Hart School District. She started as an English teacher at Sierra Vista Junior High before becoming an assistant principal and principal at Canyon High School. She has served at the District office as director of curriculum and assessment, assistant superintendent and deputy superintendent. She was named superintendent in 2014.
