We strive to adhere to Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1, Level AA as comprehensively as possible.Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) compliance explains how to make web content (websites, mobile apps, digital content, etc.) easily navigated and understood by a wide range of users including individuals with disabilities and those who use assistive technology such as screen readers.
This includes, but is not limited to, how text, images, media, sounds, website code, structure, and presentations are built by:
- District website administrator, content designer, and school site webmasters
- District, school, program, and departmental digital content editors
- Others who create or present District affiliated digital content
Goals and Milestones
Achieving our digital accessibility goal of reaching and maintaining Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1, Level AA on all of our websites. While this is required of all state and local governments and public school districts in the United States, more importantly, in doing so we are creating a culture of inclusivity and accessibility for our students and their families. This goal also aligns with several focus areas of the District’s Strategic Plan. (1.4, 2.3, 2.5, 3.1, 3.3, 4.1, 5.1, 5.2, 5.4)We will achieve compliance with a multi-tiered plan
- Create support documentation and tutorials for digital content editors
- Use Accessibility Tools to help identify any issues across all websites
- Implement accessibility checks in the content creation process
- Pass all automated and semi-automated Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1, Level AA checks across all websites by April 2026
