School-Based Health and Wellness Services and CYBHI

Ensuring every student has the support they need to thrive
The Hart District is committed to the health and well-being of our students. We are proud to participate in the Children and Youth Behavioral Health Initiative (CYBHI), a statewide effort to make sure students can get health and wellness support right where they spend most of their time: at school.
Historically, schools used their own budgets to pay for counselors and mental health and wellness staff. Through CYBHI, the state now allows us to partner with insurance companies (both private and Medi-Cal) to cover the costs of these services. This brings new funding into our schools to keep our wellness programs strong.
How It Works
- Students receive wellness and mental health supports at school
- Families provide consent and insurance information
- The District reviews whether a service qualifies under the state program
- If eligible, the District may submit a claim to the student’s health plan
Claims are only submitted if a student receives a qualifying service. There is no blanket or automatic submission.
3 Things Parents Need to Know
-
💰 It is $0 Cost to You. There are no co-pays, no deductibles, and no bills. You will never be asked to pay for these school-based services.
-
🛡️ Your Private Benefits are Safe. Using this program does not impact your family’s private insurance limits. It will not "use up" the visits you have for your private doctors or therapists.
-
📋 This is Not Enrolling in Therapy. Providing your insurance information simply allows the district to be paid back for services already being provided on our campuses. If your child ever needs formal therapy, we will always ask for your separate, written consent first.
Enter your student's health insurance information through the student insurance info request form or use the QR code.
Why we ask: When you enter this information, you are helping our district "unlock" funds that stay right here in our community. Think of it as a way to ensure our school nurses, social workers, and counselors stay on our campuses for years to come.
