A Legacy of Excellence: Bowman High School Named Model Continuation High School Once Again

Santa Clarita, CA - The State Superintendent of Public Instruction has once again designated Bowman High School as a California Model Continuation High School. This renewal of the prestigious title continues a remarkable streak of excellence that began in 1999, cementing Bowman’s status as a premier institution for alternative education in the state.

The 2026 selection marks more than just an award; it honors a decades-long commitment to student success. Bowman High School remains part of an elite group of schools recognized for providing innovative, high-quality programs that help at-promise students overcome obstacles and reach their full potential.

"Our mission is to ensure that every single student leaves our district opportunity ready for whatever path they choose to take," said Hart District Superintendent Michael Vierra. "By being recognized as a Model School once again, Bowman High School proves that our district provides the diverse educational opportunities necessary for every learner to thrive. We don't just aim for graduation; we aim for a future where every graduate is prepared for their next step and ready for the workforce or college.”

The "Model" designation is not a lifetime appointment; it requires a rigorous re-application and site-visit process every three years. Bowman’s ability to once again secure this honor highlights its leadership in:

  • Diverse Educational Pathways: Tailoring instruction to meet unique student needs and learning styles.
  • Sustained Student Growth: Consistent improvements in graduation rates and social-emotional development.

By receiving this recognition once again, Bowman High School will continue to serve as a resource for educators statewide. The school will be officially honored for its sustained excellence at the upcoming California Continuation Education Association (CCEA) State Conference in May.
